Chronicles of Amber

In the Amber stories, Amber is the only true world; all others, including our Earth, are but "shadows" of the tension between it and Chaos. A second world, the Courts of Chaos, is situated in Shadow at the very edge of Chaos itself. Royals of Amber who have negotiated the Pattern, and the equivalent Chaos nobility who have navigated the Logrus, can freely travel through the shadows. By shifting between shadows, one can appear to alter reality by simply choosing which elements of which shadows to keep, and which to switch between. - Wikipedia

This was probably the first fantasy series I ever read. In fact, I'd almost go so far as to say I was down right addicted it. I initially borrowed the Nine Princes in Amber from the public library, without really knowing anything about the series, or the author.

The book was so good, that I think I finished it in one day, and was running back to the public library to get the second and subsequent installments the next morning.

Some ten odd years later, after moving to the country, I was dismayed to find that the local public library didn't have any copies of this series, making this my first official purchase an online bookstore. I have since purchased the prequel books, but have not yet had a chance to read them.

Take a look around the right hand menu, which has links to each of the novels in the series (in publication sequence), and includes a brief synopsis of the novel. In some cases, I've also included a brief review.
